27 Concentration blog 1st question draft

A written commentary describing what your concentration is and how it evolved must accompany the work in this section. Responses should be concise; you may not exceed the number of characters allotted on the Commentary page. The commentary is not graded, but it does help in the evaluation process. The commentary consists of responses to the following:
1. What is the central idea of your concentration?

Through recycling, I found inspirations through these paper materials. By displaying color and contrast, I wish to create negative spaces within my works in order to introduce a profound feeling.

Comments of Gordon's Blog

I like David Walker and Gordon's selection of work examples. David Walker is one of the many graffiti artist around the world. However, David Walker can be distinguished from other artist though his input of emotions and portraits spray painting on the wall or other medium.

Taking AP 3D Studio Design, I am thinking about  turning the 2D works into 3D. Currently, I can think of several approaches: it can be paper birds forming layers or clay and carvings or even wiring. There are unlimited possibilities and so I believe that we can think of something beyond graffiti and 2D in to the world of 3 dimensions.

Xu Bing - Master of calligraphy

Before I came to PAS. I was studying in a Buddhist boarding school in Nantao, in central Taiwan. For the 6 years living in the school build in the mountain, I enjoyed the unpolluted and undeveloped environment. In the meantime, I spent my time studying and practicing Chinese calligraphy. To me, that is  a area of profound study that seems to be impossible for me to achieve eminence. However, all these have changed after I transferred to PAS.
My fascination of Chinese Calligraphy led me to Xu Bing. He is a Chinese-born artist, living in the US since 1990. He was a student of Central Academy of Fine Arts and is currently the head of school. He is most known for his printmaking skills and installations pieces, as well as his creative artistic use of text. Through such process, people can understand the word through the process of merging Eastern and Western elements.
For 25 years, he has been traveling around the world from Asia to Europe to America. With such a broad horizon, he creates the Chinese Arts that are composed of outer elements or characteristics. In the picture above, the installation have 3 huge pieces of Chinese Calligraphy (not quite because Chinese people cannot understand the characters on them) and a small hill of sans on it, which creates contrast between carved stone walls and degraded sands.
Book to the Sky and Book to the Mother Land
This is a piece wade from Tabaco.
Here are some of the other of his art works.
In addition, he also played with new computer characters.
He is best know for his revolutionize Chinese calligraphy, even though Chinese cannot read them, people from the other parts of the world might be able to form connection with them because he utilized all the elements from other languages that includes English.
After appreciating all these artworks, I really wish to integrate other or outer elements into my works, through such process, I can create art that is connected to people on the different side of the earth and communicate with them though art as a medium.

3d Ideas and inspirations

Here below I have attached different art works that may seem unrelated. Below, are two dimensional art works that are made from various of elements. This time, I am looking forward to do some collages through which I can combine diverse mediums or what I mean is material into my project. Many of the artist have done things like below: collage made from recycled materials.

However, after the discovery  of of these art works with novel perspective, I started to think about add depth into the flat two dimensional. I with to give live give birth to all the amazing 2D artworks.

So, on the next project of the one after, I wish to make a 3d collage in which I can introduce negative spaces and values. By doing so, I can make the 2D arts into 3D!
