PLASTIC TAPE project

 When the name of project first come to my mind, I thought if mummy of ancient Egypt. I believe it will be a fun project so i spend a decent anount of time finding inspirations and ideas.

As I was looking fo ideas different aspects of project come up to me.
There are: overall shape of the project, coloring and texture of the outer layer.

Im looking forward to combine different textures, colors and and the overall shape of this project. By the way, I am enjoying playing spray pain, so I might use it in this project too.

After watching this video, to be honest, I wasn' t fascinated by it since I have seen many other similar effect with artistic design. Domino is the first thing that come up to my my when I was watching  the video. Yet, I am impressed by the accuracy how different sections of chemical and physical reactiions are interconnected.

Do you think this is art? Why or why not?

I don't really think it is a form of art. To me, art is a way yo convey ideas or  asthetic values. I believe this in my own opinion. Maybe some will think it is a form of art. I thnik its just a consecutive chemical reactions that have been presiely calculated and putted together.

Does it remind you of anything?

This video reminds me of domino. I have seen art works made with domino or used it as a medium. It is sort of like the concept of domino where the precious action will lead to the scond one.

After all, although I did not enjoy the video not think it's a form of art, most importantly, I found inspirations from it.

Sandrine Vallée

As we are working on clays the studio art class right now, I googled surreal sculptures with clay and found outstanding works Sandrine Vallée. He is a French plastic artist who makes drawings, sculptures, and paintings. The subject that he works on dictates his choice of the artistic technique. He utilizes different materials and forms of artistic expressions to give substance to the ideas.

He began with modeling the clay. His earlier sculptures are mostly figurative, and mostly female characters. As the time goes on, he started to simplify the shapes, and focus on the movements, and the curves. His sculptures was no longer detailed by express the dynamics within his work. After all, he started to work on surreal projects.

The simplicity and the dynamics of the works have attracted and fascinated me. His work reaches a point that is between complex and simple. He utilizes different materials to create new sculptures and projects.

After I researched on Sandrine Vallée, I started to consider about to use different materials to be my medium of my projects. Perhaps, I can focused more on the motion and the rhythm of the work instead of the details.

Unbelievable Sculptures by MyeongBeom kim

Myeongbeom Kim’s works and projests contain both man-made and natural elements, with the aim to accomplish surreal and dream-like spaces. He received his MFA in sculpture from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2008. Previously, he studied environmental sculpture at University of Seoul, South Korea.

 

Myeongbeon stated that “I try to examine how my surroundings are perceived and remembered. To do this, I listen to a whisper from the objects within my surroundings. I attempt to have an intimate, private dialogue with the world, trying to concretely present the way things approach me, by using other mediums.”

 

"To ask what an objects means to me is like asking what being I am. I have consistently experienced my surrounding objects from the perspective of life, growth, and decline, which lends vitality to my work."

 

 

There are thousands of surrealist sculptural artis around the world. MyeongBeom kim is unique in his own way. He combines the elements of nature and human commodities and creates special relationshiips between his sculpures and the surroundings. I appreciate his work in a way with both reality and artistic values. Although many of his works are again the current physic laws, he forms a balance within his projects. Thus, I reguard his work as "Unbelievable".

Stunning Photoes by Martin Stranka

Martin Stranka love nature especially the smell of autumn and grains in the sunset. He told us that he is a self-taught professional photographer. She born on April 13, 1984 in Czech Republic.

His special “breath taking “photography have successfully amazed thousands of people and gained tons of fans, in addition to this, he has been known to be related to surrealism.

He won more than 30 international photography awards in the past decades. Including: Sony World Photography Awards, EISA Photo Maestro or International Photo Awards and Digital Photographer of the Year.

One special, He has created book covers for the biggest New York publishers like Harper Collins Publishers and Sterling Publishing. Also he has worked with other publishers, in person around the world.

 

I appreciate his works with with a sence of serenity. It thouches my feeling by catching the dreaming moment in peoples life. According to his interviews, he described that his art works deny the laws of physics and erase the border between conciseness and dreaming. The world, where impossible becomes evident, and the perception of reality is shifted to its next level. Most importantly, he is trying to unique space of balance and serenity. I like his work and wish to share with you the "dream-like" images that took by breath away.

Sam Gilliam's Amazing Art Works

Sam Gilliam is a Color Field Painter and Lyrical Abstractionist artists.

He wa born in Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1933, Gilliam spent his youth in Louisville, Kentucky. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisville in 1955, he served in the Army (1956-1958), then returned to the University for his Master of Arts degree (1961). In 1962 he moved to Washington, D.C.

Sam Gilliam utilize a spontaneous and improvisational techniques, particularly his pouring of vivid pigment on to unstretched, draped canvas,or clothes.

The unique artworks make him one of the foremost artists to emerge from the Washington art scene.

 This is a work that he poured paints on the Canvas with expressed feelings.

I found out Sam Gilliam's artwork accidentally on the facebook. I was fascinated by his expressive use of color. He utilizes clothes as the medium that he works on his project. It was really cool that he didn't paint on the paper but transformed the 2D art work into 3D by hanging it up in the space. I felt that the interactions between color and spaces crates a harmony. Through different mediums, he succeeded in grabbing people's attention as well as expressing his feelings.
